401. Analogy - A comparison made between two things to show how they are alike. For example: "the operation of a computer presents and interesting analogy to the working of the brain"

2. Assonance - The repetition of similar vowel sounds in words that are close together. For example: my life, my wife

3. Consonance- the repetition of a speech sound that is not a vowel. For example: She sells, seashells by the seashore.

4. Mood - A story's atmosphere or the feeling it evokes. e.g. thunder storms, lightening evokes fear and danger

5. Onomatopoeia- The use of a word whose sound imitates or suggests its meaning.

6. Oxymoron - joining two contradictory terms such as "deafening silence"

7. Rhyme - words having similar sounds, usually found in poetry at the end of lines.

8. Motifs - repeated themes in art or literature

9. Paradox - when two or more facts seem to contradict each other but reveal a truth. e.g. exercise gives energy and takes energy.

10. Anecdote - A very brief account of a particular event or incident

13. Lyric poetry - expresses a speaker's emotions or thoughts and does not tell a story.
